That’s a huge waste of time, particularly since most novel manuscripts undergo hundreds of changes. (For example, if you want to change a character’s name, you’d probably have to Find-Replace every chapter).
Otherwise, changing even the smallest details will be a nightmare.
Instead of having a separate Word document for each of your chapters, I would highly recommend instead writing your manuscript as a single Word document with chapter breaks.
